I was recently re-reading an article that I had saved on my PDA years ago. It was on how to communicate with your children about entertainment. Obviously since I had the whole article on saved, I liked the content of what the author had to say. In fact I remembered passing this article on to other parents I thought it was so useful, but as I read it, something started to get all tweaky inside.
Here are the series of questions the author suggested you ask your kids in regards to thinking biblically in regards to entertainment.
How’s your faith in Jesus?
Do you ever think that you lost your salvation?
Do you wonder if there is a God?
Is Jesus God?
Is there a heaven?
Is the Bible true?
You say that your faith is strong? Good!
How is your joy?
Do you have love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faith, gentleness, and self-control?
You remember the "Fruit of the Spirit" described in Galatians 5:22-23? Why doesn’t it radiate in your life?
Now I'm not saying these questions are wrong to ask, but as I went through them it created a picture as to why kids or adults for that matter would be intimidated by having anything to do with God. Without any sense of relationship with Father what do you have? The obligation to live biblically. These questions turn into a tension that you could answer correctly and still haven't the slightest clue as to whether your heavenly Father loves you. |
