New Plan

We’ve adjusted our plans to fund this movie.  Rather than trying to raise all the money to make Jeff’s World in one lump sum, we decided to do two separate fund raisers.  Right now we are raising the money to cover the costs of shooting the movie.  This has drastically reduced the amount we need to raise to get started.  So if you want to be a part of making Jeff’s World a reality, visit our Kickstarter page and make a pledge.

Thanks!

I want to help make Jeff’s World!

Big Announcement!

The producers of Jeff’s World decided yesterday to help a worthy cause. Ten percent of the profits made from this movie will be sent to “A Future and A Hope,” a Christian charity working on orphan care and issues of poverty and AIDS in Kenya, Africa. We’re friends with Johnny and Kate Brooks who run this work and they’re awesome people. Kate does her own cooking show from her kitchen in Kenya called “Cooking with Kate in Kenya.” it’s awesome! And Johnny is a fellow Star Wars geek! These guys amaze us. They work in some of the most heart wrenching situations and yet still find it in themselves to be light hearted. You go Johnny & Kate!

You Courageous People!

This week we’ve been so privileged to hear from some of the most courageous people around!  Who are these brave people you ask?  These are the people who faced one of greatest fears a person can face…pursueing one’s dreams!  The fear of failure so often paralyzes a person that her or she will not even attempt to pursue his or her dreams.

This week we’ve been contacted by numerous brave people interested in trying out for leading and supporting roles in the movie.  I love what one man told me in his email.  He said that acting in a movie is on his bucket list so he has decided to go for it.  These folks trying out chose to push past that fear of failure and go for it!  Good for you!  We, the producers, salute you!  We can relate!  This whole movie is about going after the desire that is in your heart.  And that is exactly what we the filmmakers are doing.  It has been our dream to make a feature length film and now we’re going for it!

Everybody reading can also play a part in making people’s dreams come true.  We are still in need of people to give toward this movie to make it possible!  It doesn’t matter if it’s $10 or $10,000, most people can give something to see to it that Jeff’s World becomes a reality.  Just click on the link and make a pledge.  It’s as easy as buying a book on Amazon!  And once you’ve made a pledge, tell your friends and family!

Thank you to everybody who making this movie happen!

You Can Help!

If you want to be a part of helping Jeff’s World be made into a movie but you don’t have any acting or production skills, or you live outside the Sacramento area here’s your big chance. We just launched our fund raising campaign over on Kickstarter. We need to raise $25,000 to shoot this movie. Now to people like me and you this sounds like a lot of money. But in movie world, that’s chump change! And the truth is, when you break it down into bite size pieces, it’s not that much. If 500 people gave $50 this thing would be fully funded.

Kickstarter is an awesome platform to raise the money because the way it works is people donate the money, but no money changes hands until the project is fully funded by the deadline. In our case that’s March 12, 2012. Those who donate get cool rewards. Like for $50 you get a free copy of the movie on DVD, a poster, and a certificate of gratitude so you can prove you were a key player in making this thing happen. If the project isn’t fully funded by the deadline, no money changes hands and no rewards go out.

Preview Shoot

What a productive morning!  The three producers of Jeff’s World, Bob Humphrey, David Fredrickson, and I (Loren Rosser) got together and shot some preview clips for the movie.  It was a whole lot of fun bringing the old video crew together again.  I realized that we haven’t done a shoot together since 2007.  Has it been so long?  Now Bob is going to edit those clips and get them online real soon.  I’m eager to see how they came out.  Keep your eyes opened, your first look into Jeff’s World is only days away!

Enter Jeff’s World!

You know, one of the challenges with Jeff’s World is describing it to people.  The simple fact of the matter is that no movie like this one exists.  Most movies centered around Evangelical Christianity either totally bash it or they seek to promote it, to proselytize.  There aren’t many (if any) that show Evangelical Christianity as it is; the good, the bad, and the ugly.  This has been done numerous times with Catholicism and Judaism, but not with Evangelicalism.  Everybody who has attended an Evangelical Church for any length of time has not only observed the kindness of some of the people and the good intentions that exist but also the personality clashes, the competition, the downright embarrassing moments, and the scandals that take place.  When I set out to write Jeff’s World I not only drew on some of the hilarious and tragic tales I heard or witnessed over the years, but I also drew on much of my own experience from the days long ago when I served as a youth pastor.  Although Jeff is not me, there is certainly a lot of me in Jeff.  I am so familiar with the angst, frustration, and fear of failure he carries as well as that drive to please everybody in his attempts to climb the ministry latter.  But the fact of the matter is Jeff’s story is one that thousands of people will relate to.  Have you ever felt stuck in a rut?  Have you ever questioned the status quo?  Have you ever had to deny a talent, a genuine passion, or even your real feelings in the name of obligation?  Now imagine all those things taking place inside a person but he is in a place that is supposed to have all the answers and his job requirement is to be the answer man.  Now you’ve entered Jeff’s World!
